I am so glad to share to you that my elementary and high school classmate, college schoolmate, friend and sister in our assets (the eyes…lol)  has passed the January 2009 Pharmacy Board Examination.  It was definitely tough but it wasn’t tough enough to beat, Ferlien Mae Baula. I’m so happy for you, girl!

The University of the Philippines - UPCAT 2009 Results will be publish very soon. The incoming college freshmen who took the UPCAT 2009 can check if they passed by entering their applicant number on the database provided here.

The USTET results for the academic year 2009-2010 is now available. Incoming college freshmen who took the USTET can check if they passed by entering their applicant number on the database provided here.

Passed Applicant has met the required cut-off scores of the program of his/her choice. He/She is therefore advised to confirm intention to enrol on the report dates indicated.
 
For Interview Applicant is qualified for interview as an additional requirement for the program of his/her choice. He/She is advised to read instructions found in his/her USTET result form or posted in the web.
 
On Waiting List Although applicant met the required cut-off scores on the program of his/her choice, he/she cannot be accomodated immediately because of quota limitation. Thus, he/she can be considered only if slots are still available after those who have higher scores have confirmed.

Reflection: New Year’s Eve Sacrifice

Women’s rights around the world are an important indicator of understanding global well-being. Many may think that women’s rights are only an issue in countries where religion is law, such as many Muslim countries. Or even worse, some may think this is no longer an issue at all.

But, Hsiang Lin’s wife is a picture of a pitiful woman, discriminated, and a woman who doesn’t have an identity of her own. She’s a picture of a woman who no one ever cares if she does exist in this world. Upon reading the selection on New Year’s Eve where it relates the life story of Hsiang Lin’s wife, my heart can’t just stop beating fast controlling my emotions thinking that I can’t do anything to defend her from such oppression and from such humiliation. It is very much humiliating that even she, herself couldn’t have that right to decide on her own. Issues such as forcefully offered as wife to other men in exchange for cash, good or we may coin it as wealth. Women’s dignity I believe is not worth anything in this world and it can not be bought by any wealth in this world.

Lu Hsun’s “New Year’s Eve Sacrifice” for me is a masterpiece. It is a masterpiece because it presents to the whole world the issues about women that has to be taken care of and needed much of our attention. I am just so grateful that nowadays especially in Philippines, this kind of practice to which Hsiang Lin’s wife suffered does no longer apply. There are already a lot of institutions who played the role of women defenders against all prejudices of women. I, myself would stand firm as well, to protect my fellow women, my self to which we are safe and far from what life has brought to Hsiang Lin’s wife.

Last week my PC crashed due to an inflicting virus attacking my Windows system file. It replicated itself exactly the same with the contained Windows system file. And when I neutralized my computer from viruses, my anti-virus undoubtedly deleted it causing my PC and all un- backed up files to lose. Well, then I have decided to grab myself a copy of Ubuntu operating system which is really known to be most secured. Why? Because, almost all of the existing viruses in the cyberspace is designed to attack Windows.

Courtesy of ragingmon, he’ll be handling me a copy of Ubuntu and as a long time user of Linux operating system, he suggested to use Ubuntu since it is the most user friendly among all variety of Linux OS. I’m planning to have a dual OS on my PC where Windows is intended for our C#.Net projects alone.

Open Source, on the Go! Ubuntu is a community developed, linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

We are currently learning Java Enterprise Application in our Free Elective Subject of my last semester in College. I am just so grateful I got a proven effective and very kind teacher to guide me along the way.  Of course, though we have a little background in Object Oriented Programming, we started from the very basics. It might be funny but this is the time when I fully understand and experienced simple polymorphism, one of the most important concept in Object Oriented Programming.
