Eva Mendes: “I’m Big on Therapy”

Eva Mendes, Calvin Klein Obsession Ad

Eva Mendes is one happy camper.

"I’m big on therapy," Mendes told me yesterday. "I’ve always said I love talking about therapy, because there’s nothing wrong with it. Why wait until something goes terrible in your life to start fixing things?"

Mendes, 34, has never talked details about why she did a stint in rehab earlier this year, but she did tell me that one of her biggest issues was coping with her own success. "Up until recently, I was really uncomfortable with having success and enjoying it," Mendes says. "I just couldn’t deal with that. How can I have so much? It’s not fair. How can the world have so little?…I allowed it to mess with me in the sense that I just didn’t know how to handle it."

Things are different now. "I’ve really broken it down to this simple thing: I deal with everything by giving it away," Mendes explains. "It’s genius. It works."

She literally gives things away, like the new pair of Cartier sunglasses she insisted an elderly friend of hers keep when she tried them on. "I said, ‘You need to have them. They look really good on you,’ " Mendes says.

Speaking of looking good, Mendes has been the center of a censorship storm because of her new steamy ad campaign for the Calvin Klein perfume Secret Obsession. A 30-second TV spot was banned last month by U.S. television networks because it showed part of her nipple. (Above, the campaign’s new billboard that was unveiled today in New York’s Times Square.)

Mendes could have had the nip slip cut from the commercial (it’s in her contract), but says she found the slight nudity "beautiful and tasteful."

In director and writer Diane English’s upcoming The Women, Mendes plays Crystal Allen, a smokin’ hot Saks salesgirl having an affair with married businessman Stephen Haines. Like Stephen’s wife Mary (Meg Ryan), Mendes credits the women in her life for getting her through the tough (and happy) times. "I’ve run into some women in my life who are like, ‘I don’t have any girl friends. I only have guy friends,’" Mendes says. "And I’m like to the guys, ‘Run for the hills when you hear a girl who says she only has guy friends.’ That is a bad situation, because all women should have their base of girls."

Where does that leave her longtime filmmaker boyfriend George Augusto? "He actually grew up with all women in his family," Mendes says. "His mom has five sisters, so he gets it."

Mendes first auditioned for English about three years ago. "They were like, ‘Oh, we’re not sure if you can do funny. We’re not sure if you’re the right person for it,’ " Mendes remembers "But then two years later, they told me I got the part. I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute. I don’t know if I want it. Things have changed here, Miss Thang!’ "

Obviously, she decided to go for it.

Since we never see or hear Stephen—as in the 1939 original, no men get screen time in the movie—did Mendes picture anyone in particular when thinking about him? "Yeah!" she says with a big smile. "It was a very specific person that I had in mind. But I can’t tell you any of that stuff. Those are secrets of the trade."

Beware of Labeling Yourselves!

Labeling simply means : Instead of saying, “I made a mistake,” you tell yourself, “I’m such a loser!” Admitting to yourself that you made a mistake is motivation to get it right the next time. You want to keep trying because you want to eventually succeed at the task. Your success can be almost guaranteed, depending on how you interpret the situation. If you call yourself a loser, you are telling yourself you can never succeed. That’s terribly self-limiting—not to mention a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So, are we aware  enough on our self labeling skills? Well, I am. If you’re not, you’d better!

Ogie Alcasid and Ramiel Malubay -Back to Back Concert on December!

Ogie Alcasid has yet to stage his anniversary concert Twenty/Twenty  on Septermber 27 in Araneta Coliseum and now he has already a follow-up major concert to be held on December 20 and 21 at Aliw Theater, this time with American Idol finalist Ramiele Malubay.

Ogie Alcasid is undeniably one valuable person in the Music Industry. He just happened not to be so good looking with other stars in his generation but he’s a very good singer and composer too. He’s got the talents that the Music Industry is living for.

Together with Ogie Alcasid on his upcoming December concert in Aliw Theater is the first Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina and also Robby Navarro who happens to be one of the bets of Ogie who unfortunately did not make it on the finals. Well, this will really be a very good break for the two. Anyway, as expected-Regine will be there. Is she?

Blog as the best listener!

We will not always be happy, at peace and contented. Most of the time, we are in the opposite side of the spectrum. We often tend to seek for other people’s heart to sympathize or even empathize for us but in my case, most of the time- I fail to find that. Well, there are a lot of things to consider.

  1. First, that other person can’t just relate to your situation or feelings especially when you won’t tell them the details of the story. Worst, even if you did tell them they still can’t.
  2. Second, their day or life is too good for you to just mess it up with your agonies and everything.
  3. Third, they too have their problems to take care of. It’s more than enough to take the load of others.

Well, the above three considerations are based on my experiences. You may have a more extensive list than the above mentioned, or you may even have listed least  than that. Well, have you ever experienced the needs to call somebody to talk to and a lot of unwanted circumstances will happen? For instance, you can’t see that person online on your messenger list, you got no load to call or send them a message or worst for some of my case, I lost my internet connection so I have no one to talk or things to cling unto.

But thanks to those unwanted instances and to those unskilled sympathizers and emphatizers. Why? Because even how much we wanted companions, a good listener and everything we may need to comfort us at that moment - they’d left us alone so we’ll have time to talk to ourselves. Besides, it’s exactly us who knows what we really wanted, how we want to be treated, how we want to be comforted. It’s only ourselves who can truly discern that.

On the other hand, people are social beings that we can’t just stop ourselves from wanting to have that person beside us who are skilled enough to at least emphatize with us at that particular moment of our lives-even when details are not given to them. That will sound better. So, often it’s a bit disappointing that at down moments of your life, you don’t have those people you expected to be with. I can’t help but selfishly think that sometimes people are there when they need you or you’re both happy and going to a party or whatever. Sad to learn that most of the times we are alone. For goodness sake, who would want to hear bunch of problems from others when you are already pre-occupied of your own thing. So I understand that. I really understand that.

I am just thankful that diaries are given birth and now, blogs are here. They may not interact with you as you write and rant all your feelings but they’ve given you enough silence and space to burst it out, to write it out, to release them all-however you may want to call that. Blog is not just a simple evolution of diaries, not just a good source of income but most importantly blogs are best listeners. They don’t react even how harsh the words you may write in it(unless you have those anti-Do’s). They just let you write, write and write until your fingers are tired that you decide to save it or not. Oh, before I forgot, blog is as truthful as it may seems. Blogs are truthful because they’ve given you the freedom to keep your rants private or open to public. And that is already within the author’s jurisdiction. See? how fortunate I am to be a blogger and for you who are also bloggers? You may not have yet that realization but I’m certain one day, you will!

If you are serious about your goals, drop the conditions!

If you are serious about your goals, drop the conditions. Go directly to your goal. Be your goal! Conditions often disguise strategies for escaping accountability. Why not just take charge and create the experience you are looking for?
- Eric Allenbaugh

The above quote is one of my favorite quotes that really inspired a lot of successful entrepreneurs and aspiring one like me.  Eric Allenbaugh presented his thoughts really well that a reader, me for instance, could not just dare to move away from what he is reading. It even will cause you to pause for a moment and reflect how sensible and truthful it is. Well, this idea does not just apply to entrepreneurs but also to people from different walks of life. Have you ever thought of its relativeness to the cliche "If there’s a will, there’s a way!"? Precisely guys, if we have our goals - we have our will to that and so we must drop the conditions and find the way to achieve it. That made sense, right?

SMARTBRO : Worst Internet Service Provider in the Philippines

SMARTBRO : Worst Internet Service Provider in the Philippines!

SmartBro

I believe I am one of the thousand subscribers of SMARTBRO who suffered from their worst services. Could you imagine your Internet Service Provider provides you with at least 50 times a day of network interruption? Yes, you read it right. I experienced that intermittent internet connection at least 50 times a day! They simply —– !!!!. I just don’t want to mention that term here in my blog but that’s how worse they are!

Well, I’m done with my locked in period and now applying for a different ISP. Well, that’s another story to tell. Let’s go back to SMARTBRO - The Worst Internet Service Provider in the Philippines! Way back May 2007 when I applied for their service. I availed of their service because it’s the only ISP who accepts and process application really really quick! It will just take you three days and you’re network is up and running. For the first few months, everything went smoothly and just enough for my internet connection speed requirements. But lately, as I believed their customers are growing so fast-their internet connection speed goes to worst also. Geesh, it’s interrupting my productivity status. Imagine, it will take 2-5 minutes when I refresh a certain page or go to other pages of a site? OMG! This is not what I have been paying for. For goodness sake, SMARTBRO! I knew you’re accepting a LOT of subscribers but you should have measured your capability to provide best services to them.

Well, I just hope you’ll get some lessons here. I am not here to convince anyone about how worst SMARTBRO internet services are but these are my own point of views- views taken from my experience!

And this time around, world-class hotels are just so easy to book in this site I came across with. They offer services for three major destination namely: Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is the capital, and largest city of the Netherlands, located in the south of the province North Holland.Amsterdam is the financial and business capital of the Netherlands and one of the most important cities in Europe in which to do business. Many large Dutch corporations and banks have their headquarters in Amsterdam, including ABN Amro, Akzo Nobel, Heineken International, ING Group, Ahold, Delta Lloyd Group and Philips. KPMG International’s global headquarters is located in nearby Amstelveen, as is the European headquarters of Cisco Systems. With these businesses in Amsterdam, expectedly there are a lot of tourist and businessmen will be coming into this city. Now Amsterdam Hotels

Barcelona is a major economic centre, with one of Europe’s principal Mediterranean ports, and its airport is the second largest in Spain. Founded as a Roman city, Barcelona became the capital of the Counts of Barcelona and the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination and has a rich cultural heritage. Particularly renowned are architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner that have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. For Barcelona Hotels

Barcelona is actually part of Rome and with these are still a lot of places to visit in Rome. See it by yourself guys and you’ll be amazed of how great could be the feeling to have these places visited. How I wish that will be very soon.

Another destination is the famous, once-divided city of Berlin is the capital and largest city in Germany.
