Reaction Paper in Technopreneurship…
This is actually a reaction paper—my assignment on technopreneurship to be exact— on Steve Jobs Speech in Stanford’s Commencement Exercises way back 2005.
—Here it goes—-
Steve Jobs departing message to the graduates of Stanford University is "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish!" With the help of Internet resources, I wasn’t just able to read his speech but I’ve got to listen the actual footage of the said commencement exercises courtesy of youtube.com . The venue where the graduation took place is not that conducive for a 15 minute speech and listen to it. But if I were a part of that event, it wouldn’t even matter if it would took me an hour listening to Steve Jobs‘ stimulating power of speech.
His speech is incredibly one in a million piece of literature inspired by a real life story of him, Steve Jobs. On that 15 minute speech, he uses a lot of figures to express his thoughts and yet these were so easy for me to grasp like those aspiring individuals who were part of that event. And all through out his speech, he stresses one very important thing anyone should have and that is to find what we love, "If you haven’t found it yet, keep on looking. Don’t Settle" he stressed out. It is in fact symmetrical as saying "DREAM, BELIEVE and SURVIVE"—the popular GMA Starstruck Slogan. And this was very true. If only we dream, believe in it..we’ll surely survive. And look where a college drop out is right now. It’s not as good as saying that we don’t need education but it would be best to say that it’s our choice and experience that count the most. And this is what is inculcated in my system right now–at this very moment—from my brain down to tips of fingers and toes and most especially in my heart.
He also stressed out on "Time is too short. Don’t waste your time living someone else’ life." Absolutely! I knew that I don’t and would never have that absolute freedom to do all what I want and all what I think is right but I live my life now on how I and God wants me to be and not because of what others want for me.
Now back to his departing message stating "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish." Well, what we actually have right now are all crazy dreams of our whiz forefathers who hungered so much for knowledge. And Alas! All of these crazy dreams turned into a reality. I believe that is what it’s meant of his departing message and wanted to leave that to millions and millions of aspiring individuals like me.
The space of this post may not be enough to express everything I’ve learned from his speech. Though I’m not one of Stanford’s graduates but I’m just so grateful to be one of those graduates who like me are surely inspired of this one-of-a-kind brilliant person, Steve Jobs!
